The Ajayi Crowther University Library, on Tuesday 10 October
2017 held its exhibition for the 9th convocation ceremony of the
university.
Attending the exhibition were the vice chancellor of the
university, Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo Folorunsho Asaju, the deputy vice chancellor,
Prof. Jacob Adeniyi, members of the university’s governing council, chaplaincy,
staffs and students of the university.
The University’s Chaplain, Ven. Taiwo .O. Olodude gave the opening prayer of the exhibition, while the university Liberian, Barr. Mrs. Harriet Dapo Asaju gave the welcoming remark of the exhibition.
Giving the opening remark of the exhibition was the vice chancellor
of the university, Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo .F. Asaju. Prof. Asaju congratulated the
university Liberian, as well as other staffs of the university library. He also
commended them for the tireless services they’ve shown towards the university
library.
Taking the university on the exhibition was the chairperson
of the exhibition planning committee, Miss. Bola Fashola. Miss. Fashola who
took the management, staffs and students of the university around, showing them
pictures of old and new buildings in the university. The buildings which
include: The medical centre building, Building of the registry, Shopping
complex buildings, Crowther hall building, University’s staff school building,
St. Andrew chapel building, faculty of education offices, laboratories and
seminar buildings, and Sport pavilion. Other buildings include: the student
assembly (ACUSA) Building, Crowther water factory building, Student common room
building, Faculty of Natural Science building, T.Y. Danjuma library building,
Student common room building, Modupe and Folorunsho Alakija Faculty of law
building, Vice chancellors Lodge, ATM gallery building, and Accounting
department extension laboratory.
Miss Fashola furtherly explained to everyone present, how
the new buildings have been of great help to the university, stating that the
lives of students and staffs have been made easy through these buildings.
The exhibition also transcended from the library, to the
Modupe and Folorunsho Alakija faculty of law main bowl, for the second section of the exhibition

Giving the opening remark in this section, was the
University’s Liberian, Barr. Mrs. Harriet Dapo Asaju. Barr. Asaju welcomed
everyone present at the second section of the exhibition. She also took time to
specially welcome the special guests of honor, Prof. Femi Osofisan, and Dr
Olayinka Egbokhare. The Liberian also appreciated everyone who has worked diligently,
to make the exhibition a success.
Also speaking during the second section of the exhibition
was the vice chancellor of the university, Rt. Rev. Prof. Dapo Folorunsho
Asaju. Prof. Asaju who talked about literature, its founders both in Nigeria
and in the world, and how it has indeed touched their lives, as young ones when
growing up. He also made mention of great authors from Nigeria and around the
world, of whom he had covered their works.
Also addressing the university at the second section of the
exhibition, was a front line Nigerian writer, Prof. Femi Osofisan. Prof.
Osofisan Thanked the university management for giving him the opportunity to
address the university on this very great occasion. He also commended the vice chancellor
of the university, who was indeed a great speaker, stating that he was
impressed on the knowledge of the vice chancellor, towards literature. Prof.
Osofisan who read out some interesting stories to the university, and thought
staffs and students of the university some songs.
Taking over the floor was Dr. Olayinka Egbokhare. Dr
Egbokhare thanked the university management for allowing her share same stage
with Prof Osofisan, after which she read out her book titled “Dazzling Marriage”.
The university also received gifts of book items from Prof
Femi Osofisan, all the books recieved where authored by Prof Osifisan.
Giving the closing remark of the exhibition, was the
university Liberian, Barr. Mrs. Harriet Dapo Asaju. Barr. Asaju thanked the
special guests of honour for honouring their invitation, and making the days
programme a success. The Liberian, who went on to commend Prof Osofisan,
Stating that his visit to the university has made a remarkable history to the
university. She also thanked him for being a good donor to the university.
