Members of the PDP in Ikwerre Local Government Area and supporters of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike were attacked by gunmen today at Ipo in Ikwerre LGA during a Party function.
Allegations are rife that the assailants, who also rained bullets into the vehicles, especially that of the LGA Chairman, Ishi Samuel Nwanosike are of the All Progressives Congress.
According to reports, the publicity secretary of PDP Rivers State Chapter; Hon Darlington Orji JP, Hon Barr B S Emerengwa, Hon Samuel Nwanosike and the leadership of PDP in Ikwerre LGA were in Ipo on a sensitisation tour before the heavily armed men came out from the bushes and started shooting at the crowd.
It was gathered that one Mr. Uche Nnana, and a lady from Ipo were killed in the attack while several others are injured.
Hon Nwanosike had previously raised an alarm over the alleged plot purportedly sponsored by some political thugs which was perfected in a meeting at Afrik hotel Igwuruta on the 7th of November, according to reports..
