Nasir El-Rufai

The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has commended Nigerian Breweries Plc for its role in the economic development of the state, stressing that the company is the biggest taxpayer in the state.

A statement quoted the governor, who was at the Nigerian Breweries’ stand at the just concluded Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit, as saying that the NB played a big role in the state as far as investment and economic growth was concerned.

The Corporate Affairs Adviser, NB Plc, Mr. Kufre Ekanem, said that Kaduna State had been a friendly environment for investment and home to the brewer since 1964 when its first brewery was built in Kakuri.

Ekanem was said to have thanked the governor for his support and stressed that the company would continue to be a partner for growth and development in the state in line with its commitment to supporting the development aspirations of its host governments and communities.

“We want to remain an active development partner to the state and look forward to working closely with you in this regard. This is what informed our support not only for this summit but also other initiatives designed to make the business environment in Kaduna more conducive and friendly,” he added.

A deliberate Change Agent and technocrat committed to international best practices who has in three decades traversed the Real, Banking and Public Sectors of the Nigerian Economy, Eugene Irefa Abels was born, bred and schooled in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. He hails from two oil producing Communities, Nembe and Finima and believes that they are a microcosm of the Niger Delta Region.

An exponent of the need to exorcise our Colonial past from the souls of our public servants and elected officials, he believes the art of governance has been reduced to the single person pronoun ‘I’ whereas ‘we the people’ holds no relevance.
