Driver in FCT police net for robbing passenger




The police in Abuja have arrested a taxi cab operator, Sunday Ojo, for allegedly dispossessing his passenger of cash and other valuables.

He was said to have robbed a female passenger of N70,000, wrist watch and her ATM card which he allegedly used to withdraw N100,000 from his victim’s bank account.



The Federal Capital Territory Police spokesman, Manzah Anjuguri, in a statement on Sunday said Ojo was arrested at his residence at Gbesa village in Abuja.

It said the victim informed the police that she boarded the suspect’s car along Airport Road, Lugbe but was driven to Jedo Estate, Sabon Lugbe where she was robbed.

The statement read, “The suspect in whose apartment the victim’s wrist watch and SIM card were recovered has confessed to the crime and is helping the police in their investigation.


“In compliance with the directives of the Commissioner of Police FCT, Musa Kimo, the suspect has been transferred to the Command Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.”
