Substandard drugs seized in Kano





Kano State Police Command on Monday intercepted a large quantity of controlled and substandard drugs valued at over N33, 039,200.

Prominent among the drugs, classified by Kano State Task Force officials of the State Ministry of Health as Controlled, are diazepam, fortwin injection and neomaline.



The Substandard drugs are Ibuprofen tabs, Quinine, Coartem, among others, all valued at about N33,039,200.00.

Also on March 19, 2017 at about 2200hrs, according to the Command’s Spokesman, DSP Musa Majiya, a team of policemen on vehicular patrol within Sharada area intercepted and arrested one Abba Sani, an indigene of Katsina State, with 490 bottles of adulterated intoxicating substance (Codeine syrup), valued at N490,000.0K.

According to the PPRO, the suspect confessed to being a dealer who sells the products to youths and women in the area.


Majiya disclosed that the police had secured a court order from Magistrate’s Court 29 for disposal of the products.
