Nigeria’s unity not negotiable, Osinbajo insists

The acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, again on Sunday told those behind the agitations for secession in parts of the country to perish the thought, saying Nigeria’s unity is not negotiable.
Osinbajo stated this while receiving members of the Muslim community in Abuja and its environs who paid him the Sallah homage, to mark the 2017 Eid-el-Fitr at his official residence, Aguda House, inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said Nigerians must work hard to ensure that “the country remains united so that its citizens could enjoy the benefits of a united nation together.”
“Our unity is not negotiable. We should make sure that we remain united in order to enjoy the resources God has blessed Nigeria with. So many nations envy what we have as a nation,” Osinbajo told his guests.
He urged Nigerians to join hands with the present administration to ensure that the government takes proper care of the people.
He said the government was not interested in citizens’ ethnic backgrounds, adding that …

"ANGALA" WILL TOMORROW EVER COME? By HON. ENEMI GEORGE

ANGALA Angala sits on the edge the shores
Drenched in agony from all she has lost.
With vigour she claws the clay
Fighting to stay
So she too is not washed away. She’s lost in evocation
Reliving the exuberant circus of the limbless vertebrates
From different corners of her aquatic stadium.
But that was then. Now she brawls with rue
She bewails her dwelling place
Which once was home indeed
And home truly it was. Angala wails!
She’s battered beyond the carrying capacity
Of her unbending tenacity
Oh! The pestilence on her persistence. Today, she watches the gambol of her amphibious goby
As he romps on the lustrous quilt of rude crude
Which now separates him from the comfort of his viscous sludge
The gloop which once was his playground
And the cheers of his cheerful muddy chair. Will tomorrow ever come? ©2017 Enemi George Hon. Enemi Alabo George is a serving member of the Rivers State House Of Assembly, Representing Asari-Toru Constituency 2, Under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Pa…

Ramsey Talks About The Negative Aspect Of Being An Actor

Nollywood actor, Ramsey Nouah who barely puts his family out on social media has revealed that his kids suffer a lot of backlash because of his profession as an actor.

According to him, due to the constant backlash, it is always difficult for him to go out with his kids and have fun. He made the revelation in an interview with Ghana's JoyNews.

He said most often he tries to be nice to his fans to the detriment of his kids who deserve his undivided attention.

“My kids suffer a whole lot of backlash [because] of my profession because it’s pretty hard for us to go out and have fun in public places. Most times when I go, I always have to be nice to the fans, taking pictures and neglecting them and they feel bad about it, they don’t enjoy it,” he narrated.

The unfortunate development is no fault of his, he noted, explaining that,“unfortunately, that is the cross they have to carry and that’s been going on for years.most times I enjoy most of the best moments with my kids in private.”

Pregnant mother of 4 shot and killed by Seattle police after she confronted officers with a knife

On Sunday, a pregnant mother of four  identified as 30-year-old Charleena Lyles was shot and killed by Seattle police after she confronted officers with a knife.  Police Sgt. Mark Jamieson said two officers went to Lyles' address after she called to report a burglary. "We were here to meet with one of the residents. Typically, that would be a one-officer call, but there was some information in the system, officers had dealt with this particular unit, this particular caller just recently. There was some hazard information so that prompted a second officer to respond. She started talking all crazy about how the officers weren't going to leave and she had a pair of scissors," one officer says." Jamieson said.
According to King County jail records, Lyles was arrested and charged with obstruction of a public officer and harassment of a law enforcement officer on June 5. She was released conditionally June 14.
On the dashcam audio of Sunday's incident, officers can b…

One person died on Monday while four others sustained injuries during a violent clash between Hausa and Igbo traders at Kuje, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory.

The suspect, whose name could not be immediately ascertained was said to have died after he was beaten up.
A civil defence official who spoke on the condition of anonymity explained that the suspect died at the Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital where he was taken to for medical attention.

Buhari’s speech emboldened Northern hate speech makers – Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of making utterances that emboldened a section of the country to make hate speeches against the Igbos.
Fayose said Buhari got it wrong through his statement after the inauguration that his government might not favour any section of the country that voted against him during the 2015 presidential poll.

“Apparently, the Igbos didn’t vote for Buhari in 2015,” the governor said in Ado Ekiti during a meeting with members of the Conference of Ekiti State Private Sectors and non-indigenes.
Fayose said the meeting with the groups was meant to cement his relationship with them in preparation for the 2018 electoral battle.
Blaming the president for the recent quit notice recently issued to Igbo by a coalition of Northern youth groups, Fayose said, “How can a President that was just sworn-in after a tension-soaked election be saying that any section that didn’t vote for him won’t benefit from his appointments?

Saraki: Ozekhome hails CCT, mocks EFCC

Human rights lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) has hailed the acquittal of Senate President Bukola Saraki by the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
Ozekhome also mocked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission which was the key witness against Saraki.

The senior advocate also lampooned the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption headed by Prof. Itse Sagay.
He said the ruling by the tribunal was evidence that the anti-corruption was nothing but a ruse to fool the feeble-minded.
In a statement on Wednesday, Ozekhome said, “The Code of conduct tribunal headed by Mr Danladi Umar (not Justice Umar,as always erroneously reported ),was bold, courageous and right, in spite of visible executive interference and manipulation, to have discharged and acquitted Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on all the counts of false declaration of assets levelled against him.
“EFCC, much trumpeted much-trumpeted media trial of cases, dramatic hype and conviction of suspects on the pages of newspapers…

I have no hand in Lagos PDP crisis – Kashamu

Sen. Buruji Kashamu (PDP – Ogun East) has denied involvement in the crisis rocking the Lagos State Chapter of the party, ahead of council polls in the state.
The senator was reacting to an allegation by a factional Chairman of the party in the state, Mr Moshood Salvador, that he (Kashamu) was partly responsible for the crisis rocking the chapter.
Salvador made the allegation in Lagos on Wednesday while announcing his faction’s alliance with the Labour Party for the July 22 Lagos State polls.

PDP candidates from the Salvador-led faction were not recognised for the election by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Mr Austin Onyiokor, Kashamu, described the allegation as baseless.
He said that he had not interfered with the affairs of the Lagos State chapter of the party and that he would never do.
Kashamu advised Salvador and his supporters to take responsibility for the crisis as well as the failure of the party to secure victory in…
